What’s a Solaire? 20 Fun Facts About Me.

This post was inspired after reading a few fun lists posted by people who I look up to creatively. When I decided to actually write it, I thought there was no way that I could come up with 10 facts about myself, let alone 20, but to be honest I probably could’ve written about 50.

This post is a fun way of introducing myself  and letting you in on who I am behind the screen by a curated list of tidbits about my past and present self.

Some people close to me already know most of these about me, but those who don’t I invite you follow me on this journey in hopes of connecting with one another on a raw and personal level.

1.) My name, Solaire, is French and it means “sun” or “to have sunshine within,” and I   was named after my great aunt on my dad’s side.

2.) My parents are both from Lebanon, but I was born and raised in upstate New York.

3.) Arabic was my first language and my parents had to hire a tutor to teach me English before I started grade school.

4.) I’m 5’2″ and 3 quarters.

5.) I have a degree in both Business Management and Public Relations, both of which I’m still not sure how I managed to get.

6.) French fries are my favorite food and if you are what you eat, then I’m a potato.

7.) I once won *runner up* in ‘The Next Face of Smashbox’ contest that ran worldwide. I ended up getting so much makeup that I still have some of it to this day.

8.) Summertime is my favorite time.

9.) I played the violin for 5 years, but ended up quitting because I was scared of playing in front of my middle school orchestra teacher. She wasn’t the nicest lady.

10.) Dancing was always my favorite activity growing up. In fact, I used to be a hip-hop dancer in high school, but I always mixed a little of bit belly-dancing into my moves.

11.) I’m the middle child of 5 kids, so I’m pretty much everyone’s favorite (including my parents.)

12.) I’ve been fortunate enough to have traveled to 29 countries, some on multiple occasions, and counting.

13.) Although I always find myself back in Italy, every country I’ve visited so far had something  different to offer and to teach me. So, I find it hard answering people when they ask me which visited country has been my favorite so far.

14.) Sunsets > Sunrises  | Both are uniquely beautiful, but there’s something about watching a sun set while drinking a glass of wine that relaxes me.

15.) I’m most creative at night when I’m supposed to be sleeping.

16.) My favorite flower is a sunflower.

17.) I once started writing a book, but gave up after chapter 1.

18.) I manage a successful Instagram meme account anonymously because I low-key have too many personalities.

19.) I can’t say the word “cinnamon” correctly for the life of me

20.) I’ve broken my right elbow twice, once from falling off the monkey bars and once from falling off of a bike.
